FAQ

  • My child has never attended childcare... is that ok?

Of course! The rhythmic flow of our program is designed to fit the children, not the other way around! Nature has no pre-requesits. We are so excited to welcome your child.

  • My child has an allergy. Is the program appropriate for them?

It depends on what they are allergic to and the severity of their allergy. We ask that the children all bring their own snacks; if a child has a food allergy, we are mindful of where they sit while eating to avoid contamination (and sharing). Get in touch if you have a query about allergies.

  • How 'toilet trained' does my child have to be?

Toddler level toilet trained! We know accidents happen, especially when little ones are busy having fun. The children must be out of nappies/diapers and able to use a toilet. There will be many opportunities for toilet breaks throughout the program because…tiny humans have tiny organs!

  • I'm worried my child will have a difficult time seperating from me. What happens if this is the case at drop-off?

This is a completely appropriate reaction for a child. We know every child is different and are happy to discuss creating a plan which may mean your child comes for a brief visit initially or you stay for a few minutes initially. Get in touch sooner, rather than later, if you think your child may need some support with drop-off and separating from you and we can discuss what you think is best for your child.

We have had many children attend our program a their first ‘drop off’ experience and have had great success in settling them into Bush Kindy. We find that the outdoors really helps in this transition.

  • Is the program based on a specific teaching pedagogy?

We love taking inspiration from pedagogies like Reggo Emilia, Montessori, and Waldorf when it supports and fosters the children’s engagement with nature. That being said, we do not strictly prescribe to one specific pedagogy or curriculum in the program. We leave it up to the children and nature to co-create the curriculum every day.

  • My child has a developmental difference, is neurodivergent, or has specific support needs. Are they able to attend?

Absolutely. If nature can teach us anything, it is to celebrate differences. While our ratios and staffing is pre-determined, we welcome you to get in touch to discuss how we can include your child in a meaningful, safe, and supportive way. If your child requires one to one support, they are welcome to attend with their support worker, respite worker, or therapist.
